Tago Mago, 744 High Street, Thornbury, Melbourne
$5 donation to the chicken workers. They won, so they don’t need a strike fund anymore. But they missed out on two weeks pay, so let’s help ‘em up with that.
As a one-off type o’ thing, Orlando is travelling up to Thornbury where the best op-shops are, and the spirit of generosity apparently runs free! We’re going to be fundraising for the striking chicken workers in Melbourne’s West, and we’re gonna bleed you gays for an unprecedented $10 each $5 to help out with this.
We’ll be playing the usual mix of indie / hip hop / post-punk / new wave, but in the music pubby surrounds of Tago Mago in Thornbury. Remember when we used to be at The Vic? Maybe it will be a bit more like that?
It starts at 8pm and goes till 1am. There is also a kitchen at Tago Mago that is open until 9pm, in case yr into that sort of thing.
Want to know more about what we’re fundraising for?
The striking worker’s at Baiada Poultry are hyper-exploited, some of the workers there have been earning as little as $10/hr doing a job that is often dangerous and unpleasant. We think everyone deserves a decent wage for a decent day’s work. And so we fully support these workers taking matters into their own hands and walking out until they get the pay and conditions they are asking for.
But to keep these workers going on the picket line as they battle the baddies at Baiada, we need to help them out. They still need to pay the bills and they’re not getting any income while they’re out on strike. So we can surely listen to some music, get drunk and give a little in the process, right? Right!?!
Orlando calls this strike fund FUN!

Does the kitchen serve vegan options ?
Comment by Mike November 22, 2011 @ 9:24 amThe kitchen serves small dishes which are vegan. Their mains are not vegan. They have a vegetarian (lacto) main dish.
